Explain a little about your area of expertise and what you do at Economit

I work in the IT audit and risk space, which basically means helping clients make sure their IT controls, processes, and systems are secure and working the way they should. At Economit, I will lead first- and second-line audits for our Cyber Essentials, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22301, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and ISO 42001 standards.

What attracted you to this type of role and how long have you worked in this area?

I’ve always been interested in the overlap between technology and business, and how we can use systems securely and effectively. I started my audit career in 2013 and have focused on IT audit and governance for most of that time. I enjoy problem-solving and making complex things simpler for people, which this role lets me do.

My favourite bit of my job is...

Being able to help people see risks they might not have noticed before and then working together to sort them out. Also, learning new things from my colleagues and during every client engagement.

In my spare time, you’ll find me…

Watching the TV series, Anime, and movies. I also play video games and occasionally travel.

My first memory of technology was...

Using Microsoft Paint and just drawing whatever came to mind—scribbles, stick figures, and random shapes. I was amazed that I could create something on a screen using just a mouse. It felt like magic at the time and probably kicked off my curiosity about how computers work.

The best piece of IT advice I’ve ever been given...

The IT landscape is rapidly evolving, and staying ahead of the curve is crucial. Auditors and professionals in the field must continuously update their knowledge of emerging technologies and trends to ensure that systems remain secure, resilient, and effectively managed.

My top takeaway for clients is...

Good security and strong controls aren’t just for compliance; they actually make your life easier and your business more resilient in the long run.
